Collection: Jim Lee

Jim Lee was born in Kansas and received an M.F.A. in printmaking from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1980. He taught printmaking, drawing and book arts at the Hartford Art School/University of Hartford, West Hartford, CT from 1982 -2020.

Jim usually begins his prints with on-site drawings and watercolors and from this work develops his color reduction woodcut prints. Landscape is his core interest. Working in series it is from these drawings and painting that he develops his color reduction woodcut prints. Recent work have explored the west coast of Ireland, and the coasts of Maine and Maritime Canada. He has pursued themes such as the Connecticut River, and apple orchards near his home in Connecticut.
